Chennai NGO Myrtle Social Welfare Network consists of a professional team trained and qualified on Puppetry. Myrtle conducted more than 8000 Muppet show programmes and more than 500 camps, workshops and trainings in various social activities to Government departments, Educational Institutions, NGO’s, INGO’s and UN agencies across India.
MYRTLE Muppet shows have created desired levels of awareness and facilitated effective behavior change through participatory method. MYRTLE Muppet theatre shows was performed, in an entertaining manner without threatening the audience and other ‘inhibitive’, barriers. Hence, these Muppet shows have gained more strength and content and become more powerful as a tool to in reaching the minds and hearts of all age groups. Puppets can be a powerful tool to reach the minds and hearts of all age groups. Puppets in the hands of dedicated, trained puppeteer can grab and hold the attention for people in an astounding way. Muppet as a medium can be used to coordinate effectively on sensitive issues like COVID, HIV etc.,

- Former US President Bill Clinton, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery at cuddalore district performed by Myrtle trained Tsunami affected children
- UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador-Mr.Roger Federer at Thalanguda, Cuddalore district and the children Muppet show performance was appreciated by Mr.Roger.
Myrtle in partnership with UNICEF and SCERT Kerala has conducted Restoring Lives Kerala project during Kerala Floods. MYRTLE has build capacity for 840 Master Trainers (Master Trainers from Education specialists, SSA, BRC, DIET, Special Educators etc) to address the flood affected children to come out of their fear and trauma. The Master Trainers trained 6000 Cluster level teachers and the cluster level teachers addressed 5.5 lakh flood affected children in 18,000 schools across Kerala. Kerala Government has given award for the project to Myrtle.
